Maureen Killaby is a working artist of 10 years from Oregon and Washington State. She moved to Lindale,
Texas in 2004. She has taught art classes in continuing education at Tyler Junior College since 2006. Her
passion for art began years ago with oil glaze paintings and in recent years grew to include pencil art. She
has spent many hours studying the history and art of the Old Masters.
After receiving a law degree Maureen picked up the pencil and painting as a hobby and quickly became
obsessed with graphite and now is a full time artist and teacher. Maureen teaches graphite and colored
pencil classes for adults as well as lead instructor for kids camps in the summer. She received her first
commission in 2001 and has since received additional commissions from patrons in Tyler and as far away
as Phoenix, Arizona and Wisconsin. She teaches privately in her studio and at workshops in Texas.
The Creative Arts Center in Dallas has been a new teaching venue for her as she conducts two workshops
a month specializing drawing techniques.
Maureen Killaby teaches at Tyler Junior College and holds private lessons for adults and children in
